On 2 March at the European Humanitarian Roundtable took place at the University of Warsaw. It was joint initiative of the European Commission, the United Nations and the Network on Humanitarian Acton. This roundtable was the third in a series of four events taking place in the South (Aix-Marseille University), North (University of Uppsala), East (University of Warsaw) and West (University College Dublin) of Europe.

During the conference a group of experts drafted recommendations for the European Commission for use at the upcoming World Humanitarian Summit (WHS) hosted by the United Nations in May 2016 in Istanbul. Experts from the humanitarian action field discussed, inter alia, the following issues: current humanitarian issues in the Ukraine, challenges arising from forced and protracted displacement and new ways to provide humanitarian relief in the future.
The keynote speakers during the roundtable included:
- dr Joanna Wronecka (Undersecretary of State for Development Cooperation, Africa and the Middle East – Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland)
- Charles-Antoine Hoffman (Senior Thematic Advisor – WHS Secretariat)
- Claus Sørensen (Senior Adviser – European Political Strategy Centre)
